Customer App
What your diners see — discovery, scanning a table QR, ordering, paying, rewards, and notifications.
Everything in the rest of these docs is the staff side of Zesty. This page is the other half: what a diner sees.
Customers reach Zesty two ways. They scan a table QR and order from the browser with nothing to install, or they use the Zesty customer app to find restaurants, reorder, and collect rewards across every Zesty restaurant they visit.
Ordering without the app
Scanning a table QR opens the menu in the browser. No install, no sign-in to browse.
- Categories run along a rail; items show price, food type, and whether they are available right now.
- The order stays tied to that table's session, so a table ordering in rounds keeps one running bill.
- Customers can browse while service is closed. The menu still opens and reads normally; it simply does not invite them to add or submit anything.
- If service pauses between adding items and checking out, the cart is preserved and the screen explains what happened rather than emptying itself.
The display order of categories and items is yours. It follows the sequence you set in the menu, and imports keep the order you reviewed.
The customer app
| Screen | What it does |
|---|---|
| Discover | Restaurants on Zesty, searchable |
| Nearby | Location-aware list, with a fallback when location is unavailable |
| Favorites | Restaurants the customer saved |
| Orders | Past and live orders, with reorder |
| Rewards | Points earned from orders, progress to redeeming them, and the loyalty code staff scan at the counter |
| Scan | Opens the camera for a table QR |
| Notifications | Order updates and restaurant messages |
| Account | Profile, preferences, sign-in |
Customers sign in by phone with an OTP. Anonymous customers can still browse and order from a table QR.
Ratings and reorder
After an order, a customer can rate it. Ratings arrive on your side as feedback tied to the service context — which branch, which order, when — so a complaint is traceable to a shift rather than floating free.
Reorder repeats a previous order into the cart. It respects current availability and prices, so a sold-out item does not silently come back.
Table service requests
From an open table session, a customer can raise a service request — the digital version of catching a server's eye. Requests reach the staff apps alongside orders for that table.
Notifications
Customers control what they receive in Account → Notifications. Order updates follow the order's own lifecycle: accepted, in the kitchen, ready, settled.
WhatsApp receipts and order updates are separate and depend on your plan and on the customer's consent. See Customers, loyalty, feedback and campaigns for how consent is recorded.
Switching between staff and customer
Staff who also eat where they work do not need a second account. The staff menu has an Order as customer switch that moves into the customer surface and back.
