Owner Brief, Menu Profit, And Insight Canvas

The daily owner brief, the menu profit matrix, the Profit Advisor action pipeline, and the curated analytics views.

Reports tell you what happened. These four tell you what to do about it.

All of them are owner and admin surfaces, and all depend on your plan.

Daily Owner Brief

A short summary of yesterday, delivered each morning at a time you choose in your Location's local time.

The brief is a saved snapshot, not a live query. It records what the numbers were when it was generated, so opening a brief from last Tuesday shows you last Tuesday's picture rather than recalculating it today. Past briefs stay readable from the dashboard.

Owners get a push notification when it lands. If generation fails, it retries rather than silently skipping a day.

Sales tell you what sells. The profit matrix tells you what earns.

For each menu item it shows:

ColumnWhat it means
Contribution valueWhat the item actually contributes after its recipe cost
Current purchase costWhat its ingredients cost at today's purchase prices, not last quarter's
Cost coverageHow much of the recipe is actually costed — an item with half its ingredients priced is half-guesswork
ConfidenceHow much to trust the row, given coverage and data age

Discounts are allocated proportionally across the items in a discounted order, so a combo deal does not make one item look unprofitable and its partner look like a star.

Read the confidence column first. A high-contribution item with low cost coverage is a claim waiting for its ingredient prices, not a finding.

Profit Advisor

Profit Advisor (previously called Profit Guard) watches for margin and cost problems and proposes what to do.

Its Action Center runs a four-step pipeline:

  1. Preview — what the change would do, before anything moves
  2. Approve — a person decides; nothing is automatic
  3. Execute — the change is applied
  4. Verify — the result is checked against what was predicted

Policy is set at the organization level and inherited by each Location, which can narrow it. A Location cannot grant itself more than the organization allows.

Profit Advisor is owner and admin only. It touches prices and costs, so it is not a manager-level surface.

Insight Canvas

Sales and analytics are organised as Insight Canvas: curated views rather than one report with forty filters.

Each area offers seven views built to answer a specific question — how a day went, where revenue comes from, which items move, how payment mix is shifting. You can save a view once you have it set the way you want, and return to it directly.

The underlying queries are aggregates, so a canvas over a busy month stays fast.
